Resident Leader Roles
Volunteer roles and responsibilities can vary, but for OSFWC, the resident leaders coordinate key tasks that have to be done to get certified and stay certified like:
- Collate volunteer work logs into a spreadsheet to total the numbers for the work and money expended to harden our homes and properties.
- Fill out Firewise applications annually, and keep our action plans up to date.
- Email and phone communications to relay information, answer questions, and coordinate annual educational events, and/or community projects.
- Support the board in applying for grants to aid our efforts.
Board Members Roles
Volunteer roles and responsibilities can vary, but for OSFWC, the intention is for Board Members to be from across the three sections of the region:
- Orchard Springs Firewise community is divided into thirds, and the goal is to have two representatives from each of the three sections.
- This representation will allow us to better understand the people, the terrain, and the neighborhoods.
- The Board meets 4-5 times a year to prioritize projects, research projects and grants, apply for grants, and assists in any other ways they can with projects and official documents.
